Funny — your tax money goes to the banks, who earn a whopping $2.8 billion ($2,800,000,000 USD) while US job losses continue to rise. The problem is that the banks were supposed to lend more. Too bad they aren’t doing near to enough on that point — especially for small businesses.

In Crazy New Landscape For Banks, Taxpayers Are The Big Losers: “The whole point of the taxpayer-funded bailout and the cheap money for banks was to recapitalize them in hopes of stimulating lending, but the banks are holding back — which is seriously slowing the economic recovery.”

Youth Head Back to the Nest

A recent research report by PEW finds that nearly 1 in 10 sons or daughters are heading back to live at home with the parents. With the economic recession and job losses mounting everywhere this isn’t a surprise. Many people I know are finding it hard to even get a job. Personally I like forging my own path — even so the economy is tough either way you walk it.

Pew: Recession Brings Many Young Adults Back To The Nest: “A recent survey by the Pew Research Center finds that 13% of parents with grown children say one of their adult sons or daughters has moved back home in the past year. Social scientists call them ‘boomerangers’–young adults who move in with parents after living away from home. This recession has produced a bumper crop.”

So what can you do if you find yourself living at home unemployed? Don’t fall into a pit of despair and don’t fall into the trap of just waiting. You’ve got to take initiative, stay sharp and keep learning new things and skills. In a time like this you cannot be afraid of taking risks or tackling new experiences.

Most of all — realize that you’re not alone. You can find a way to work with others. Maybe partner to start a business. Work together to find a job. Things aren’t as tough when you have a support network.

For those looking for real change — now’s the time to look to changing a government, system and society that has created this situation. More on that later.
